Dodge Demon is priced at a nice round 3.14 times a base challenger.
27 Grand to 85 Grand.
I tried to best it with a Cayenne but couldn’t get above 2.8 x base price. Can you beat it? What base model has the biggest price swell?
No, market adjustments/incentives don’t count.

Just barely.
GT2 RS: $293,200
Base 911: $91,100
~3.22:1 spread

Base 911 to 911 GT2 Weissach = 3.89x

I knew Porsche was somehow the answer

Porsche to the rescue

The 911 is 3.2 without even playing with the infamous Porsche dealer options. Base Carrera coupe is 91k and the GT2 RS is 293k

Focus S you can get for around $14,650
Can spec out a focus RS to I think $44,460
3.038 — Just made it past 3

Just optioned one to 344k

In Germany prices for the new 3-series start from 32 850 euros and optioned out M3 is 109 290 euros. That’s 3,33 times the base model 3-series.

I see the base as 16775

Yep, that was the right direction. Not long ago, there was no GT2, but I’m sure now there would be an even more absurd disparity with options factored. 3 and 4 Series might have a good chance with special M3/M4s, and definitely the XE in the same vein with the $192,000 Project 8.

Base model: $20,000
Sport model: $2,700,000
That’s a ratio of 135:1

Jaguar XE. Base model is $35,725 whereas the Project 8 is $192k giving a price swell of 5.37x.

You can spec the GT2 up to $354k.

I wouldn’t pay that much for a Demon.

If I stretch things a bit, base 320i to M4 convertible is 3.06,but base 3 to maxed out M3 is below 3.
On a side note, a maxed out M4 convertible is $102,420.

420i in Germany is €40,400, M4 GTS is €142,600
3.529:1
Jaguar XE in UK is £26,995, XE SV Project 8 is £149,000
An eye watering 5.52:1

You’ll pay way more then that if you actually want one

That’s so wrong

Again in Germany. Base model Mercedes A-class: 24 681 euros, optioned out AMG A45 (complete with disability equipment): 97 372 euros. AMG is 3,95 times the base model.
But I got something even better.
Mercedes Vito work van: 22 003 euros, Vito based optioned out V-class minivan: 99 908 euros. That’s 4,54 times the base spec work van.

Probably, I imagine the markup will be insane on these.

Guess that was the net price incentive.

Jaguar XE. Base
Jag XE SV project 8 =
A healthy 5.3 times base.

Go to trucks, you can beat 4:1 there.

On an F150 I don’t get much over 2:1 (base XL to a crew Platinum with every option), maybe the Super Duty does better?
![]() 07/24/2017 at 09:16 |

Given that they lump the F series in all as one model and the cab is indeed the same, you can go base RC 2WD F150 to crazy diesel 4 door F350 or F450.

Your F450 would have to go over 104k to reach 4:1 and even more to reach more-than 4:1.
Fords website does distinguish between F150 and Super Duty.
